It’s that time of year. Valentine’s Day! And we see so many lists.
The 100 best love songs.
The top 10 most romantic movies of all time.
The 7 best gifts for your spouse.
Well – I can’t provide a list like that on my blog. I’m not in that business. I’m in the business of social media for schools. So after nearly 3 years of focusing all my efforts on telling the great stories of our schools, I thought I’d share a different kind of list. One that can help show love to your entire school.
I love seeing the great things happening in our schools via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. You can categorize the types of posts that schools share, so I thought I’d share the 11 most LOVED types of school social media posts:
- Students reading – Isn’t this what school is all about? When they are reading with someone, it is even better!
- Superintendent’s getting creative with video – How about a fun way to announce a school closing like this one from Stokes County Schools.
- Students and staff coming together for a cause – It says so much to your community about how much you care! Share photos like these. It takes a little time to set them up, but it means so much!
- Staff features – I love learning more about the wonderful people taking care of my children everyday. As a Mom, this one really matters!
- Student projects – This one was especially cool because it reached 240,000 people on Facebook alone! Make sure to show your students what a positive impact social media can make.
- Amazing stories of simple gestures – This photo shows Kellan gettin a birthday ride on the floor zamboni!
- School traditions – Check out this cool one that Cumberland shared on Instagram.
- Staff with student selfies – Are they called “Ussies?” I don’t know – but they work on social media! And a special shout out to Damian LaCroix, who was just named Wisconsin’s Superintendent of the Year. He is a servant leader who is a great ambassador for telling his school’s story with social media!
- Student recognition – It says so much about your school to share these accomplishments!!
- Sport Photos – Your community loves sporting events – and great action photos are fun to see!
- Student talents – Whether it is the choir concert, a forensics poetry reading, or a skilled button box player – these videos are FUN to see!
