Picture this: A school communicator eagerly waiting to tell their school’s exciting stories to the community via social media. Despite sending reminders and encouraging staff to capture the magic happening in their classrooms, there’s a lull in content.
The notifications remain silent, the inbox is empty, and the queue of photos and stories lined up in their posting calendar starts to dwindle. Or, worse yet, it’s completely run out!
I’m sorry for starting this blog with such a grim visual, but we’ve all been there, haven’t we?!
That’s where the Social Media BINGO Challenge comes in!
Originally launched by #SocialSchool4EDU in 2019, this creative tool is back with refreshed BINGO cards featuring simple, fun, and impactful social media post ideas for schools. This updated version is designed to engage your staff, generate content, and celebrate your school like never before!
What is Social Media BINGO?
Social Media BINGO is a fun, interactive way to engage your staff and boost submitted social media content. The idea is simple: School social media managers distribute BINGO cards to teachers and staff members, who then submit photos, videos, and stories that align with the prompts on the card. Once staff members have captured the content for a square on their card, they submit it to their social media manager to share on the district’s platforms.
The goal? Staff members should submit enough content to complete a BINGO and your social media channels should be lit up with engaging content! It’s a win-win!
Here’s How It Works:
- Download the Free Printable BINGO Cards from #SocialSchool4EDU.
- Distribute the cards to your staff and explain the rules.
- Encourage teachers and staff members to take a photo or video that matches the content on a BINGO square and submit it to your school’s social media inbox, or through whatever system you have in place at your school, along with a brief description of what they’re submitting.
- Share the submitted content on your school’s social media platforms, celebrating the exciting stories happening within your school.
- Staff members should aim for a BINGO (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line), or challenge your team to complete a Double BINGO or the entire card!

Why Participate in Social Media BINGO?
Social Media BINGO is more than a game; it’s a way to bring your staff together, showcase the incredible things happening in your school, and keep your social media channels buzzing with fresh, engaging content. It’s also an opportunity to involve teachers and staff members in the storytelling process and foster a sense of pride and connection across your school community.
Pro Tips for Success
Motivate your staff: Offer a small incentive for completing a BINGO, such as a candy bar, coffee, or gas gift card, or even throw in some school swag. You can decide if you want all staff members who complete a BINGO to receive a prize or just the first handful.
- Use visuals: High-quality photos and videos make for more engaging posts. Share some good examples of photos and videos with your staff, so they know exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to content for your school’s social media pages. This video tip on capturing classroom learning may help!
- Be consistent: Post regularly and keep the momentum going by reminding staff about the BINGO challenge. When a staff member receives a BINGO, you could even email all staff to celebrate this accomplishment.
- Engage your audience: Encourage followers to comment, like, and share the posts.
