Has your Facebook fanbase for your school hit a plateau? You are still adding a few likes each week, but you would love to see a bigger surge?
Amanda Korth from Shawano Schools recently shared a tip that is definitely worth sharing! Here is her message:
I’m not sure if anyone’s ever talked about or tried this, but my district Facebook page (Shawano Schools) normally gets about 10 new likes per week on average, and we’ve recently hit a “like plateau.” Yesterday I tried something new and went to each post on our page this week and last, clicked on the post likes, and invited everyone who liked the post to like our page if they hadn’t already. We are at 30 likes this week – quite the increase from our average.
I plan to check our posts regularly from now on to make sure everyone who sees our posts gets invited to like our page.
It should be noted that when someone receives that invitation to like your page, they receive that invite from your personal profile name, so you’ll have to decide how important anonymity is to you.”
I need to tell you that this strategy really works! We recently had one of our schools go back to the beginning of the school year and put out new invites to everyone who wasn’t already a fan. They added over 200 Facebook fans!
How to Invite
First, you’ll need to access your school Facebook page on your desktop. It currently won’t work from your mobile device.
Next, scroll to a post that has likes or other reactions. Click on the names.
A box will pop up showing each person that has liked the specific post. You’ll see a box next to their name that shows whether they already like the page (it will be gray and unclickable) or the word “Invite” will be present. If you’ve already invited them to the page, it will also indicate that.
It is important to remember that the invitation will come from the personal Facebook page that you are logged into at the time you make the invite. As long as you don’t mind having that match up with your personal profile, you are good to go! I know some schools use a fictitious profile to manage their school account, so the invite will come from that made-up profile.
Make it a Habit
What if I told you that in just five minutes each week, you could ensure your continual Facebook page growth? Well, you can! New people are continually going to come across your school’s content on Facebook.
Each week, set aside just five minutes to go through the posts over the last week and invite people who don’t already like your page to do so. It’s easy. It’s effective. And the best part is, it will get your students in front of even more people that have already expressed interest in supporting them!
