I’ve been writing and teaching what works when it comes to social media for 9 years.
But as anyone who has spent time managing a social media account knows, one blog or one webinar just can’t capture all the advice needed to effectively, efficiently, and safely manage social media in a K12 environment.
That’s why I put a TON of time and effort in, over the past year, to assemble a book that helps pull it all together!
I’m thrilled to share the release of “Social Media for Schools – Proven Storytelling Strategies & Ideas to Celebrate Your Students & Staff – While Keeping Your Sanity”! You can grab your copy, now!
Before I go any further, I want to give a shout-out to an amazing #schoolpr professional and friend of mine, Jess Hartgers of Bondurant-Farrar CSD in Iowa. She helped me out in a pinch at ISPRA 2023 by taking photos of me with my book to be used for this blog. Thanks, Jess!
If you need to purchase multiple copies for your team, there is bulk pricing available for orders of 10 books or more. Plus, the 300-page book is accompanied by a digital PDF with bonus resources AND a 16-page, digital workbook to help you take action as you go through the 20 chapters!
I wish I had had a resource like this when I started managing social media back in 2014. I knew NOTHING! I just had to wing it… try things out… fail… and then try some more. Not only was I figuring social media out, but I also had to figure out a good method to get content from staff. And then once I shared the content, I had to monitor the comments.
It was more than a little bit overwhelming!
But after 9 years, and training more than 1,000 schools around the country, I’ve got the system down to what really works!
I’m a natural-born cheerleader. I was a cheerleader in high school, and I continue to do that in this role. Social media managers have a tough job and don’t get much appreciation – but I see it! I see you. And I’m here for you.
I don’t just cheer. I teach. In 2014, after just a few months of doing social media for schools, I started a blog. I have a big mouth, and I’m not good at keeping secrets. So, I started to blog about what works when it comes to social media in schools. In 2020, I started a weekly podcast where I interview school social media managers from across the country. It’s called Mastering Social Media for Schools. I share all the secrets! And I’ll include a lot of them in this book.
My best advice for others to succeed in life is to hang around really smart people! I’ve made friends with leaders from around the country who are seasoned school communicators and learned from them. They’re top leaders in their field, and you’re actually going to meet many of them in this book!
You’ll discover that I’m huge on practicality. I don’t bother with the fluff. Yes, you need a strategy. But it’s more about how to “get ’er done!” I’ve trained thousands through my blogs, webinars, video tips, boot camps, podcasts, and membership group. I started an email newsletter back in 2015 and am committed to sharing tips and tricks to make your job easier.
Never Miss a Social Media Story Idea!
Speaking of my email newsletter – if you aren’t already receiving my bi-weekly newsletter, sign-up now! You’ll get fresh insights and ideas for school social media storytellers, right in your inbox.
Throughout this book, I will often mention school districts. Please know that I have worked with public schools, private schools, charter schools, faith-based schools, and virtual schools. Each school has differences that make them unique, but the overall social media strategy remains similar. No matter what kind of school you work in, the content in this book will help your efforts.
Now it’s time to sum it all up in one handy-dandy guide. This book is all of my work so far, packaged up to truly help you! Order your copy today!
