#SocialSchool4EDU’s mission is to celebrate students and connect communities. This mission even extends to organizations closely related to education, such as state cooperatives!
We serve several K-12 Education Cooperatives through membership, coaching, and full management services. There are a ton of parallels between these agencies and a typical school. Still, with a mission to serve students by developing teachers, these organizations’ social media sites are going to look a little bit different than a school’s sites. If you serve one of these types of agencies, this blog is for you.
Take a look at this list of 20 social media post ideas and consider how you can apply them to your school or cooperative. If you work at a school, feel free to share them with your local cooperative!
- Celebrate special education-related days, weeks, and months such as those found on this list. Your post could be a simple graphic created in a program such as Canva. You could also grab photos from a student art project to celebrate the special day.
- Do you have an internal “Employee of the Month” program? This would translate well onto social media! Have your director provide a few sentences about why that employee is great. The corresponding picture could be a personal photo, an “in-action” photo of the person working or teaching, or a professional headshot.
- Showcase what your organization is doing with a Weekly Round-up of projects, programming, and results. This could be a few bullet points posted on Fridays, or a preview of the week, posted on Mondays.
- Do you give door prizes during trainings and events? Capture pictures of the winners and celebrate them on social media!
- Reach out to programming participants and ask them to send you photos from their classrooms, as they implement the new concepts they learned from the resources you’ve provided.
- Does your organization have branded swag? Ask staff to wear and bring their branded items one day, and capture some fun individual and small group photos! These could become your “stock photos” that can be used in future posts when you don’t have a photo handy.
- At the end of an event, grab a 30-second video with a participant, answering the question “What did you learn today that you can take back to your classroom?”
- Share celebratory content from the schools you serve. You could also feature one of the schools you serve, every week or month, saying, “We love serving XYZ school with programs such as XYZ.”
- Use Facebook Live to announce a grant award. This could also be a pre-recorded video.
- Use Facebook Live to announce an upcoming programming opportunity. Make it an invitation with key information – who, where, what, when, and why. This could also be a pre-recorded video.
- Provide a teaching tip or classroom idea every week, targeted at educators.
- These tips could also be targeted to families – at-home teaching tips, ways to help your kids with homework, etc.
- When one of your staff members is on-site at a school, take a selfie with an administrator, teacher, or a group of kids. Add a sentence or two about what you were up to at the school, and that’s it!
- Capture impromptu moments around the office, such as eating lunch together or celebrating a casual Friday. People love seeing behind-the-scenes moments on social media. Show your personality and culture!
- Create Facebook Events for upcoming trainings and events.
- Try a #TriviaTuesday feature and share fun facts about your organization, your programming, and your results. The trivia could be numbers-based, such as the number of students you impact every year.
- Share book recommendations for educators. You could even turn this into a virtual “Book Club” for teachers to comment and discuss!
- Do you have documented results from any of your programming? Turn these into infographics or simple graphics that show the impact of your efforts!
- Try a “Show and Tell” feature like CESA 7 in Wisconsin! Every week, post a childhood photo from a staff member and then “reveal” the identity a few days later.
- Everyone loves to be inspired. Post a #MotivationalMonday, #WednesdayWisdom, or #FeelGoodFriday every week to add a bit of positivity to the world.
